Leadership Skills, Attitudes & Behaviours

In March 2004, Smiths Group launched a leadership profiling activity that focused on identifying and measuring leadership capability across the senior management population. Smiths worked with Kasien Consulting using their core skills model which reflected the leadership capabilities that we believe are key to the success of Smiths leadership teams achieving Full Potential.

Smiths has further developed this model to better fit with our culture and we now have a Smiths Leadership Competency Model which is used to identify, develop and recruit leadership talent and which is embedded into our Performance Planning and Development Review process.

There are 8 competencies in the Smiths Leadership Competency Model each of which are spilt into two areas.

Our aim is to ensure our leaders have the skills, attitudes and behaviours to support the business reaching its “Full Potential” using their “Full Potential”.
